Super-resolution techniques have continuously evolved during the last two decades regarding optical development (STED or SIM), emergence of new probes and analysis processing (SMLM), and sample preparation methods (ExM). Nanoscale view of our samples provides new biological information compared to microscopic observations. However, how can we identify the technique adapted to our specimen and biological question? We would like to discuss about the essential factors to be addressed to choose the convenient super-resolution method. We will try to cover aspects on sample limitations, resolution, feasibility, complexity and accessibility of the techniques. Our aim is to construct a guiding chart with the audience, and a list of concerns to take into account for each technique. To do so, the working groups on Single Molecule Localization, STED and Expansion microscopy of the rtMFM have collected ideas and expertise to organize a round table during MifoBio. You are very welcome to participate.
